T: I am talking to Ngọc Phương, a close friend of mine, who's also versed in art and artificial intelligence. She also owns an Instagram art account with over 300 followers. I chose her because as a digital artist, she can give us a new perspective when it comes to art made by AI versus by a person. I started out by asking her how long she's created artwork.
P: I've been creating artwork pretty much ever since I could hold a pencil
*pencil scribble noises*
T: Can you describe your art style in 3 adjectives?
P: I would describe my art style like, random and inconsistent, usually based on my mood.
*sounds of paper being torn*
T: Are you aware of the emergence of AI art?
P: Well it's hard not to be aware of this emergence, AI art is pretty much all over social media, especially with the TikTok filter everyone uses.
*keyboard typing noises*
T: Can you explain what AI art is and how it's different compared to normal art?
P: AI art is a collection of artwork stolen from other artists, usually without their consent, made to recreate a piece of art from a written prompt or from an image. However, AI can't see what we see so the image converting to art would look kinda odd and disturbing.
An artwork is handcrafted by an individual, usually to portray their emotion, a story, or to convey an idea and or concept. An artwork usually has more range and wide set- sets of skills than that of AI art.

T: So what do you think makes AI art attractive or unique to us?
P: It's only attractive because you can get your own "artwork" for less than what you'd need to pay to get normal art, even though it's generic and unoriginal, often have errors like hands and feet. It's a quicker and cheaper way of getting "professional art" without having the skill set to make one.
*paint strokes noises*
T: So what can you do to encourage people to purchase real art?
P: You can support an artist to make more stuff that they like or love by supporting them like buying their artwork or supporting them through donations like Kofi or Patreon if they do have it, it's a much cheaper alternative but still help them out by a lot.
